Your Virtual Mentor

Susan’s calling as a mentor began at Accenture and has grown through her participation in her many networks and organizations, such as the Committee of 200, the International Women’s Forum, Girls Scouts, JA Worldwide, and WORLD WIT. She created Your Virtual Mentor in order to reach more women worldwide, using the Internet to offer mentoring guidance and support any place, at any point of time, to help them manage their careers and lives.

Susan believes, as do many great leaders, that everyone needs a mentor to achieve their personal best in career success. Through mentoring, Susan has helped women recognize the purpose of her motto: Make things happen for you, rather than just let things happen to you.

Testimonial

Ellen Minzner, director and head coach of G-Row (Girls Row) in Boston:
Ellen found Susan while looking on the Internet for someone to help her in leadership development.  Ellen says:

“I work with inner city girls (grade 7-12), teaching them how to row.  I also knew that many life lessons could be taught through the discipline and teamwork of rowing.  I wanted to make them a deliberate part of our program.  Since working with Susan, I have developed a leadership component to our program and created an advisory board to support our efforts.  Her enthusiastic support and professional advice helped me to shape G-Row into a powerful youth development program.  I have grown both professionally and personally since Susan became my mentor.”

Susan views the role of a mentor as a kind a of ‘North Star’ to provide guidance and advice based on the mentor’s experience, perspective and connections.
